Making 6 wallets at one time, Henry Ford style.

Here’s all the patterns. I’m partial to the polka dot. ALSO, I just realized that brown tree print is a Vera Neumann print, which makes it ten times cooler.

To brighten my day, Courtney sent me a special HEART punch. That heart punch will be the highlight of my week.

A few finished gems.

These are a few ideas I have for canvas bags. (The actual bags will have leather handles.)

I found these scarves by LemLem today. They are handmade by traditional weavers in Ethiopia.

Supermodel, mother and founder, Liya Kebede, is from Ethiopia. “She discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods and wanted to do something about it. Recognizing the beauty, quality and historic significance of their work, Liya started Lemlem in 2007 as a way to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving.”

Rubyassata always supports handmade goods, in the US or elsewhere.

p.s.- I really want that navy one. . .

new bag MAGIC

26 Mar

I’m in the process of making a couple bags. I really like this color combination. It reminds me of a French circus.

This one is fun, too!

These new YKK zippers are pretty slick.

Screen printed a bunch of logos for wallets and such, too.

17 days until the end of your kickstarter and 17 days until the Style Swap in Charleston.

I have a lot of sewing to do. . .

CHARLESTON stock list

24 Mar

I’ve been working on goodies for the Style Swap in Charleston on April 12th. Building bags and such.

Here are a few swatches for wallets. BAM.

and BOW TIES!!! Since, we’re going to Charleston, I thought I should whip up some bow ties. Charleston has to be in the top ten bowtie friendly cities in the country.

RIP Miss Taylor

23 Mar

Little blog shout out to the unbelievable beautiful Elizabeth Taylor. RIP.

When I think of Elizabeth Taylor, I think of  Life with Father and Father of the Bride. My dad made me watch them when I was young.

But my favorite is Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf . They don’t make them like that anymore. . .

TCM is having a memorial program on April 10th.

PINK telephones & field NOTES

23 Mar

I’d give my left arm for a phone like this.

Can’t beat a french press?

I finished this building drawing. It’s okay. There is something wrong with the contrast.

Practice page.

This is why I need Courtney.

New LLLove. A friend sent me this video. That led me to this video. Which led me to their quirky site and falling deep in love with Field Notes. They make well designed note books the old fashion way in America. Urban Outfitters said, “We’re thinking that Field Notes might give our Moleskine’s a run for their money.” My sentiments exactly.

I was flipping through NYLON magazine last night and the word RUBY caught my eye. It was an article about the website  ART RUBY.

The website, dedicated to fine art, shares links on new artist, exhibits and random cool art.

I use to be more on top of the art scene when I was in school and now I only “read” about fashion and graphic design. This website just opened a whole new can of procrastinating worms.
