Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! It feels like FOREVER since we’ve done a blog post!! Courtney has been busy making movie magic and I’m knee-deep in the world of Freaker.
Somehow I accidentally reupholstered our dining room chairs this weekend.
(First of all, if you live in Wilmington, that discount fabric store on Kerr Avenue is going out of business. Really cheap upholster fabric. Go there before it’s gone.) I found a cool woven rail road stripe material that would be perfect to chevron. Here is a good little refresher on how to sew a chevron pattern.
Our old fabric had that oh-so-gross-1990′s-mom look about it and it was way too matchy with the rug. I just unscrewed the seat from the chair, took out the staples and used the old fabric as a pattern.
You should add a few inches to pull when stapling it on the seat. Then cut off the excess, like Dallas is doing above.
TA-DA!!! Fancy new chairs! Isn’t that much better?
In the mean time I’ve been working on a new small envelope clutch. I used some of the scraps from the chairs on the second prototype. I still haven’t figured it out. . . yet.
Have you heard of Tattly ? ! ?
We’re obsessed ! ! !
The founder of Tattly, Tina Roth Eisenberg, was tired of giving poorly designed temporary tattoos to her daughter. Tattly was then born when she teamed up with a team of designers.
Now over 150 designs are available here !
Summer popsicle !
Check them out for yourself ! You won’t be disappointed !
Yep, that’s a homemade glitter iphone case. You know you wanna make one.
I woke up and said to Courtney, “We must glitter my phone case!” and so we did.
We taped off the inside and made this handle to have full glitter control.
This chunky 1970′s glitter of my great grandmother’s was just screaming to be used.
First , you coat the top of the phone case in glue and smother with glitter. I wouldn’t use Mod Podge, maybe spray adhesive? We used Mod Podge (see below). You just need the glitter to stick. Then you mix two-part high gloss resin together and pour over. It takes about 2 days to dry and then BAM, glitter iphone magic!
Wahwaaahhh. . . about a week later it tore off. It was fun while it lasted. (I bet it was the stupid children’s grade Mod Podge.)
Alisha hit the jackpot last week when she found these gems. She took these photos on my birthday in 2009 when we barely knew each other ! CRAZY ! I also had the opportunity to catch up with Benji Hughes yesterday and this is what he had to say . . .
It’s been a while since Benji has visited Wilmington. He claims to be doing a lot with JBRN(jam band recovery network). He says, “They do really good work. A lot of people need help after being exposed to years of jam band music. They repair broken unicycles and sandals. Also- JBRN sends out groovy vibes when people get wigged out.”
Of course I had to ask what his dream man bag would look like! “I haven’t ever thought much about man bags. I guess a bag that looks like a fish would be pretty cool. Made of a softish yet durable fabric.”
I also learned that Benji would never donate his body to science or let us make bags out of his skin.
I heard on the streets that Benji is working on a new album but he offered no information. He did tell me he would shower in Wilmington. That’s fresh.
